The Class B State Tournament continued Saturday in Hamburg, with a walk-off win starting the afternoon’s slate.
Moorhead 1, Shakopee 0
A pitcher’s duel ended in the bottom of the ninth as the Moorhead Brewers walked off the Shakopee Indians on a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 finish.
With runners on the corners and one out in the ninth, Micheal Leach hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Spencer Flaten and end the game.
Moorhead threatened in the eighth, but Shakopee got out of a bases-loaded jam. The Indians out-hit the Brewers 5-3, but Moorhead was able to scratch out a run to back up starting pitcher Tanner Dahl’s nine innings of shutout ball. Dahl gave up five hits and walked one, striking out nine.
On the other side, Aaron Johnson refused to give up any early hits, and finished 8 2/3 innings with one run, three hits, two walks, a hit batsman and four strikeouts.
Moorhead advances to play the winner of Brooklyn Park and Elko — their game is at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Dundas needed a late run to defeat Forest Lake and advance in the Class B tournament.
Dundas won 5-4
The Northfield Knights also won a 13-9 shootout over the Blaine Fusion Saturday in Hamburg. Northfield led 13-5 after eight innings, using a three-run sixth to move the lead to 8-4. Northfield plays Chaska at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Green Isle.
Chaska won a 3-1 game over Cold Spring to advance.
Dundas moved on to face Chanhassen at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Hamburg.
